Wax modelling for lost wax casting course- Part 1
Make solid silver (or gold*) jewellery using wax modelling (soft waxes) for the lost wax casting technique.No experience necessary. All skill levels welcome.
All tools and materials provided.
Take home a finished silver jewellery piece (earrings, ring, brooch, or pendant) at the end of the course.
Includes one piece cast in up to 10 grams of sterling silver (cast for you outside class), basic silver findings for one jewellery piece, a cabochon gemstone (choose from rose quartz, onyx, blue lace agate, sodalite, malachite, carnelian, or amber). *Upgrades available including 9ct or 18ct gold.
Course outline:
The fundamentals of designing jewellery for lost wax casting.
Using additive & subtractive wax modelling techniques.
Making a two-part silicone putty mould.
Creating textures and impressions.
Working with organic materials and using wax dipping techniques.
Bezel setting cabochon gemstones.
Hand finishing your silver or gold jewellery piece with basic hand tools.
Making simple silver wire earring hooks and jewellery findings.
Total: 18 hours over 4x classes- 12pm to 4:30pm Sundays.
Course fee: $990

Suitable for persons 15 years of age or over.

Wax carving for lost wax casting course- Part 2
Advanced wax carving for lost wax casting- Fine jewellery.
*Introductory wax modelling course or equivalent jewellery making skills required.
Course outline: Designing fine jewellery for carving in hard waxes and lost wax casting, such as engagement rings, pendants, and earrings.
Using and modifying basic jewellery making tools such as a rotary tool, lathe, saw frame, gravers, and files.
Carving and working with hard waxes using additive and subtractive techniques.
Stone setting (simple prong and grain setting for round facetted stones).
Hand finishing your silver jewellery piece.
Making and attaching simple silver wire jewellery findings.
Reproducing your jewellery and outsourcing.
Includes one jewellery piece cast for you (outside of class) in up to 10 grams of sterling silver, simple silver findings and your choice of garnet, amethyst, citrine, or topaz. Upgrades available, including 9ct or 18ct gold.

Upcycled Fashion Jewellery Making Workshop
Turn trash into treasure with this hands-on 4 hour workshop.
Make your own earrings, pendant or bracelet using upcycled aluminum craft beer cans, post consumer leather or rubber, and recycled sterling silver or surgical steel findings.No experience necessary.
All tools and materials provided.
Learn to make your own simple earring hooks and jewellery findings.
Sustainably sourced upcycled and recycled materials.
Take home a finished pair of earrings and a pendant at the end of the workshop with the skills to make your own at home.
Small class sizes, so that you can relax and get the assistance you want.
Perfect for those that want fun fashionable jewellery for upcoming events or for gifts for your friends and family.
Workshops are $280 and run monthly on Saturdays from 1-5pm.
